And as we tarried there many days, there came down from Judaea a certain prophet, named Agabus. And when he was come unto us, he took Paul's girdle, and bound his own hands and feet, and said, thus saith the Holy Ghost, so shall the Jews at Jerusalem bind the man that owneth this girdle, and shall deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles. And when we heard these things, both we, and they of that place, besought him not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered, what mean ye to weep and to break mine heart? for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus. And when he would not be persuaded, we ceased, saying, the will of the Lord be done. (Acts 12:10 -14)

Have you desired to do something so desperately that in spite of all odds, you are still committed to doing it? That is passion! A very strong belief in or zeal for something, it affects the way you think about it, approach it, work at it, and tell people about it.

Passion for a purpose differentiates between people who have the same purpose. Passion coupled with the anointing makes an impact. From the scripture reference above, Paul was due to travel to Jerusalem and he received a word that he would face opposition there. This did not deter him from seeking to fulfill his purpose of reaching the people there with the message of Christ, the purpose of his calling. The prophecy was not to stop Paul from fulfilling his purpose at Jerusalem. It revealed what would happen to him in Jerusalem. So, with the kind of zeal and passion he had, he did not allow anything to prevent him from fulfilling his passion.

The account of Hebrews 12:1-3 helps us a great deal. "Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds."

We are encouraged to endure all odds in the pursuit of our purpose. That is how Jesus Christ our Lord was able to complete his mission of saving the world. But Jesus could not have endured or persisted if he was not passionate about his purpose. Passion is the only thing that will keep you going forward no matter what opposition comes up. Jesus was able to run his own race to the end because he was passionate about the reward. We must follow his example and be passionate.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for the gift of salvation that has impacted boldness into me to take the gospel everywhere I go in Jesus'name. Amen
