Now when the turn of Esther, the daughter of Abihail the uncle of Mordecai, who had taken her for his daughter, was come to go in unto the king, she required nothing but what Hegai the king's chamberlain, the keeper of the women, appointed. And Esther obtained favour in the sight of all them that looked upon her. (Esther 2:15)

Most Christians have been made to believe that everything that happens to us is as a result of one spiritual attack or another. Therefore, instead of conducting an honest self-appraisal when challenges and difficulties befall them, they quickly rush to accuse the devil or other people.

Principles are important in our walk with God and success in life. God is not a respecter of persons, but a respecter of principles.

The Bible contains several principles which we can follow in order to achieve success in our lives. Favour has already been established by God for us as Christians. All we have to do is to work our way into this favour. From our scripture reference above, it is clear that Esther did not just receive favour; she prepared and worked for it. As you journey with me these few days, you will be enlightened on some key principles which if adopted will enable you to receive your blessings in life.

Purpose is the single most important issue that motivates you to live, move and operate. It is defined as the reason for which something is made or exists; or the original intent of or for a thing. It is the driver of life, without which you would probably have no reason to live.

A purposeless Christian will never arrive at his or her destination. Prayer becomes effective when it is purpose - driven. God answers prayer, He fulfils purpose. We, however, need to make sure that our purposes are in line with the purposes of God because of what His word says in Proverbs 19:21, " There are many devices in a man's heart; nevertheless, the counsel of the Lord, that shall stand."

Remember Joseph? He went through several challenges from his own brothers to the extent that they connived and sold him to strangers. If many of us were in Joseph's shoes, you would have given up. Joseph, however, knew he had a purpose in life and held on to it. Here's how you can develop your purpose:

# Study the word of God daily

# Study the life of your parents to identify specific traits that run through the family that have been profitable - 2 Timothy 1:5

# Identify what you love doing that yields fruit and is profitable - everybody is good at doing something, a particular thing better than most.

# Be prayerful - purpose is like a seed that will drop in your spirit when you pray.

Not forgetting the principle of 'seeing and looking' also known as visioning. We see with our spirit, but we look with our eyes. Pray that the eyes of your understanding be opened so that you will see God's purpose for your life.

I declare today to I am highly favoured of the Lord. As I look into the year with my eyes of faith, I see myself walking in the glory of God and experiencing unprecedented progress and success, in Jesus’ Name. Amen
